Illinois Med Spa Directors

Clinical oversight for Illinois medical spa managers

Medical direction, clinical assessments and practice support shaped around your Illinois treatment menu, licensed team and professional structure.

Start with the clinical authority behind each service. A director agreement does not replace appropriate ownership, licensure, patient assessment or procedure-specific oversight.

Med Spa Management Teams

Before opening or expanding, distinguish your non-clinical team from the licensed medical team. A hired director alone cannot resolve unlawful ownership or control.

Common questions

Clarity before your next step.

Every clinical plan begins with the services, people and practice arrangements involved.

Talk through your questions →
Does hiring a medical director authorize a med spa?

No. Review the professional entity, ownership and authority for the services offered. A director agreement does not confer medical authority on an unlicensed management team.

Do all Illinois APRNs need physician collaboration?

No. Illinois full practice authority permits eligible APRNs to practice without a written collaborative agreement within their certification and statutory authority. Other APRN arrangements and physician-only services need separate review.

Does the physician always need to be on site?

Requirements depend on the procedure and delegation. Ablative laser treatment and certain other work require on-site coverage. Non-ablative laser delegation has different availability rules and a narrow laser-hair-removal examination exception. See the Illinois resources.

Can an RN diagnose or prescribe independently?

An RN can perform nursing assessment and appropriately ordered or delegated care. RN licensure does not independently authorize medical diagnosis or prescribing.

What do you mean by a good-faith exam?

A clinical assessment within participating-practice care, connected to treatment planning and follow-up. The label or price is not a legal clearance; the clinician and assessment method must fit the patient and procedure. We do not offer standalone clearance to outside organizations.

Can an assessment be remote?

Where clinically appropriate and legally permitted. Illinois telehealth follows professional scope and the in-person standard of care; it does not waive procedure-specific on-site requirements.

What does oversight cost?

Discuss the actual services, availability, documentation and clinical responsibilities. Pricing and internal participation policies are engagement terms, not statutory compliance standards.

Where should we start?

Bring your treatment menu, location, license types and proposed practice structure. Our Illinois Practice Resources link the statutes, device rules and agency guidance that inform that discussion.
